Walmart 's Five year plan to cut carbon emissions

Wal-Mart Stores Inc announced recently their plans to cut greenhouse gas emissions from its global supply chain within five years.

By having its suppliers reduce emissions involved in the manufacturing, transportation, and disposal of the thousands of products it sells in its stores.

The goal is set to eliminate 20 million metric tons of greenhouse gas from its supply chain by the end of 2015 and is akin to taking 3.8 million cars off the road for a year.

Wal-Mart is already enforcing strict quality and environmental standards for its Chinese suppliers by looking at factories' air pollution, storage and use of toxic substances as well as hazardous waste disposal. Read more.....
