Steamship Lines announce rate increases April 1 on the North Atlantic

Steamship lines are announcing an April 1 rate increase. This is in fact the traditional time for them to do so as they have done virtually every year in the last decade. Often times, an increase is announced for October 1 -15 as well.

For the North Atlantic, e.g. Europe to/from Canada and the USA, the rate for Canada is US $320 per 20ft., and $400 per 40ft., (Canadian ports only).

This is not really unexpected especially in consideration of the worst shipping year of the last two decades.
