Haiti Aid Bottlenecks

"As more and more aid flights arrive in the Dominican Republic, there is a threat of a bottleneck as the global response fails to translate into fast relief for many of Haiti's homeless and hungry population.......

Lufthansa has joined British Airways and Cargoitalia in flying aid to Haiti via Santo Domingo airport. BA carried 95 tonnes from Stansted, UK via Billund, Denkmark on behalf of Oxfam, the Red Cross, UNICEF and the World Food Programme.

Two Toyota Land Cruisers from the Red Cross plus 50 tonnes of food and blankets from Oxfam were loaded in the UK. In Denmark, BA picked up 25 tonnes of food and tents from the World Food Programme and 20 tonnes of water supplies and tents from UNICEF."
